"Carnival in Provincetown"

A little over than a month ago I was on Cape Cod for our annual visit, to P-Town (Provincetown) to be specific.  The third week of August is P-Town's Carnival Week.  My very first visit to P-Town in the 80s was Carnival Week.
Jonathan and I have been going there to visit Rob & Brian every summer for many years.  We rediscovered how much fun it is to be in P-Town for Carnival Week 5 summers ago.  Since that summer we are going there the 3rd Week of August.  And I even blogged about it past two summers.  So there is no way for me not to show you some photos from that afternoon.

The main event of Carnival Week is the Carnival Parade which happens onThursday afternoon.  The theme of the Carnival changes every year.
Naturally people in the parade are wearing costumes which are their own interpretations of it.  This year's theme was " SPACE ODYSSEY"  I happen to be in the supermarket a day before and I saw more than a few people were getting rolls of Foil.  I already knew it will be a parade of Silver Sparkly things coming down the Commercial Street.   Sure enough we saw dresses, shorts, shoes, and head-piaces in Silver that day...

 Here comes the parade !

" The Hat Sisters "
P-Town's Own Celebrities.
They always dress like twins and always Hats.
Without them Carnival is never be the same.....

After the parade...
Something about the Head Dresses without the Sisters is very sad.
Even if they are with Bright Pink Feathers...

"Cyr Wheel"

Fantastic Performance by Ghislain Ramage.
I believe this is video-graphed somewhere in Brooklyn.
Enjoy it !
Someday I'd love to see him do his thing !!

"Rear Window Timelapse"

Believe it or not this could be a view from rear window in Manhattan.
But, this is not a view from our home in Chelsea.
And, fashion is a bit too Vintage for  2012.

"Jonathan's Open Studio"

It is definitely Fall in New York.  Hope everybody had a great Summer.
I took the Summer Off (July & August) from "Scarfboys"
I thought I didn't want to blog the same things & events every Summer, because we do the same thing almost every Summer.

I will post memories of this Summer later, but today I want to talk about last weekend, in which Jonathan participated in an event call "GO"  Over 500 Artist Studios located in Brooklyn opened their doors for visitors all weekend to show how they work and what they are creating in their spaces.
The Brooklyn Army Terminal where the chashama foundation, including Jonathan, have their studios for painters, sculptors and photographers.

This is the chashama map of the 4th Floor of
the Brooklyn Army Terminal.
By the way, this is one of Jonathan's Satire.
There is no way you can find any artists with this map.

Jonathan's Studio is at "BAT" Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park section of Brooklyn New York.  The building itself has unique history, and very interesting place to visit.  Normally people are not permitted to pass the gate without ID they distribute.  But last weekend, you could visit the place without any special arrangements. People who had time to visit us there were able to see the it's unique space before coming to the 4th floor.  65 artists work there to create original ART.
I took some photos of course.  Here are some of them for you to see.

"Paper Collage" is Jonathan's medium.  He uses many papers which he collected for long time from every where he visted.  I have many funny stories when he got them, when I was there to see how it happened.  That will be the other blog...
He keeps some of them on walls of his studio as groups.  Many of visitors including me were fascinated to see them.  I can't to wait to see what kind of Artworks he will be making from those "Wall Paper Collage"  One of his wall is completely covered with the his paper collection, I think that wall itself is already a Great Artwork.

He was showing his work through his "Poster Book"

"Wall of Paper Collection"
Jonathan has been collecting papers all over the places.
Everywhere we visit he must get papers.
When i met him over 20 years ago he already had a big collection of papers.

These were what he had on his work desk on the weekend.

He was showing some portfolios and calendars he has been making since 2008.
When you get them you will find your birthdays and anniversaries with his artwork miniatures.  It is not for sale.  Means only you get it when you get on his friend list.  Some of them crossed Atlantic Ocean, some crossed USA and onto Asia.  Hope he will be making it again Next Year.
