It's been more than 2 years since you saw me....

I've got home made MARU-MOCHI or Round-Pounded-Rice-Cake from a friend over the weekend,  She get them from her family.  

It is very cold here in New York today, we didn't want to go out even for lunch.  The best thing I could dished up for it was ZONI which is toasted MOCHI in Soup with vegetables.  Kyoto has a very special way to make ZONI in New Year's Day which use MARU-MOCHI and soup is almost sweet Miso-Base Soup.  Naturally I decided to try to make it for today.  I didn't have any Green leafy Vegetable to to add color to the bowl.  But Daikon, Carrots, Satoimo or Japanese Taro, and Kamaboko which is Fish-cake made quite tasty Zoni. 

Homemade-Mochi were so tasty so that they made the bowl so Yummy.....
