When you go to Kyoto, you include Ryoanji Temple's Zen Garden on your must-see list. I guess they went to there and maybe saw Kabuki.
People on the stage who are helping special efect call "Kuroko" are working with silence. They called "Kuroko (Child in Black)" just because they always wear Black Kimonos. I think this is a performance, not a fashion show.
